Просмотр полной версии : Do you speak English?
Today I understand that I am losing my English and I was upset :(. So I want to offer you speak in English here!
:support::support::support:
For starting of our topic I suggest you a small riddle:
No-legs lay on one-leg,
Two-legs sat near on three-legs,
four legs got some.
Please answer and give your riddle or small story for reading and answering. :fifa:
NB: Dear English teachers and good-speakers, please comment all mistakes VERY correctly, because the first target of this topic is speaking-speaking-speaking.:073:
I could not give you the answer of your riddle, however I am ready to support a brilliant idea to SPEAK ENGLISH here! :-)))

I have been studying English since my childhood. With a private teacher, at school, at the University, at work, myself, again with a teacher, in group... And I still do not feel confident with my level :008:
What about YOU? Do you have to use your language skills at work?
Actually it is my great problem. I have been learning English since my early childhood (5 years) up to my today's work:( Thus, as far as I have been working here for 2 years I have almost forgotten English:(
Hi, everyone! That's a great idea and I'm completely support existance of this topic! And the riddle...As I remember, It's taken from Chukovsky children's book? Correct me If I'm wrong.

Hi girls (and boys)! Author - it's a good idea. I've been learning English for ... 15 yaers... It's useless if you don't have practice, so i still can't speak English, but i really want to. And i will thank you, if you correct my mistakes...

Oh, gays! I have an idea, it won't be easy, but... we should meet and speek english. I'm not telling you that we have to do it on a regular basis, but we can meet at least once and then discuss possibilities to meet somewhere once a month for example. What do you think?
Chukovski had it like this, as I remember:
на трех ногах сидели две ноги и держали одну ногу, тут прибежали четыре ноги и отняли у двух ног, одну ногу...
Это вольный пересказ, forgive me my russian.
(Ответ был: мальчик сидел на табуретке и держал куриную ножку-прибежала собака и утащила куриную ногу).
Kind of twisted mind puzzle. :))

It is easy, as we already have "English Communication Club" in our city http://www.encc.ru/ They have meetings every Thursday or Saturday if I am not mistaken. Participation fee is 50 rub plus you buy smth in a cafe. Sometimes they play "Mafia" in English :073: The initiator is very nice girl (Taisia).

You are welcome!)
Sure, we can choose a topic for discussion.) A film? A TV show? A book? Your ideas?))))
PS CHOICE is a noun, CHOOSE is a verb)
It’s pretty hard to find a book or a film, everyone read or watched, but let’s try. As far as most of us have families and children maybe we’ll discuss children’s movies? The best ones you’ve seen lately?
For instance, we’ve enjoyed the G-Force movie (in Russian it was translated as Darwin’s mission). We went to stereoscopic cinema and completely liked the furry creatures. Anyone has seen this movie? What do you think?
Not a TV show, please! I have been watching (???) a film "A Good Year" by Ridley Scott, with Russell Crowe as a main character. By now I have watched a half :-)
Is anyone here who have already seen the whole film? What are your impressions?

Continuous tenses imply an action in progress or a long duration of an action.
e.g. It has been raining all night (it is still raining or has just stopped)
I think, Present Perfect is better here (I have watched) as you state the fact.
:)
I haven't seen neither of the films. What's the plot?

I dream about speaking fluent English.
I watched last night "A Walk in the Clouds" with Keanu Reeves (i don't know if it's an original name of film, or just translation). I really love this film and Keanu is the BEST!!!:008:

I finished english school but i realize now that i am loosing my knowledge. There were not any studies in university.Concerning "Friends" as for me i can not say that i caught every word, every scene seemed me clear in general.

I watch original films.
Yesterday I watched "Sex and the City" film with subtittles. I understood not every word.
I can watch films, do gramma exercises, listen dialogs, but it is difficult for me even to write letter.
My brain thinks in Russian and I can't to translate my complicate russian sentences into simple English/
My dream is to think in English.

I absolutely agree with you! It's our common problem (IMHO:))).
Oh, this is great fun! 'tis a pity that there's no such topic for French as well, or is there? I'd love to dust off the cobwebs and get the vocabulary expanded from fourth year school level.

I beg your pardon but I'd like to join your funny discussion)))
'mistake' has been corrected to 'mistakeS' earlier by one user but you'd better use 'I make many mistakes' instead of 'I have many mistakes' (IMHO the verb 'have' is less appropriate in this case)
then I'd say 'in a group of 4 girls' or just 'with 4 girls' thus omitting a word 'group', the latter sounds too Russian IMHO:008:

may be 'from school' is OK (sounds too Russian again) but it is much better to say 'since I left school'??? or since my school days....
as far as I know discussing the problem of English-speaking Russians in English one may come across such a term 'Runglish' .It is a so-called English dialect or some sort of English that is full of RUssian word order, very Russian mistakes, typical Russian translation and so on:)) THat is why one should read a great deal of books or watch BBC a lot just to get used to normal English and stop thinking in Russian when speaking English......hope you got what I meant:))
For example when you want to say пожалуйста in reply to somebody's 'THank for your assistance" a Russian beginner may say 'please' though the only possible answer is 'you welcome':))
A very good way to speak English is to read authentic, original magazines in ENglish - in Moscow there are some newstands in the city centre where ENglish magazines and joirnals (directly from London) are sold

Working for a large company ca be a fulfilling experience unless it gives you opportunities for self-development.
Most banks are happy to lend customers money on condition that they provide documentary evidence of their creditworthiness.
The government will reduce income tax provided that the budget funds permit.
Perhaps, somebody has better variants:016:
